John von Rhein retired from The Chicago Tribune in July 2018 after more than 40 years as that newspaper’s classical music critic. He continues to freelance articles and reviews of classical music for a variety of national and international publications, including Chicago on the Aisle, Chicago Classical Review, Opera magazine and the program book of Lyric Opera of Chicago.
