David E. Schneider is the Georges Lurcy Professor of Music at Amherst College where he has taught music history, theory, and chamber music since 1997. Author of Bartók, Hungary, and the Renewal of Tradition (UC Press, 2006) and numerous academic articles and reviews, his journalistic writing on opera has appeared in San Francisco Classical Voice and The Wall Street Journal.
