When the goddess of Death is cast down to Earth to live as a mortal named Laila Starr, the boundaries between the divine and the human begin to blur. That’s the setting for The Many Deaths of Laila Starr, a new opera by composer Kamala Sankaram and librettist Minita Gandhi. The Minnesota Opera presents the world premiere Oct. 31-Nov. 8. Christopher Franklin conducts.
