Berkeley: Opera Explores Love And Art

American Apollo, an opera by Damien Geter and Lila Palmer, will be presented by West Edge Opera. It imagines a relationship between the celebrated American Portrait artist John Singer Sargent and his muse and model, Thomas Eugene McKeller, a Black hotel worker. Conductred by Kedrick Armstrong and directed by Nataki Garrett. (Aug. 8-16)
