Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi, best known for his Studio Ghibli film scores, makes his debut conducting the Pittsburgh Symphony on Sept. 13-14. Besides performing the score to The Boy and the Heron, Hishaishi will present the U.S. premiere of The End of the World, a work inspired by a trip to New York that made him think about “anxiety and chaos” resulting from “the collapse of world order” in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.
