Houston Rings In Season With New Wolfe Work

In its opening weekend, conducted by music director Juraj Valčuha, the Houston Symphony will play the world premiere of Julia Wolfe’s Liberty Bell. The Sept. 19-21 program continues with Florent Schmitt’s setting of Psalm 47, featuring the Houston Symphony Chorus and star soprano Angel Blue, making her debut with the orchestra. Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite finishes the exciting lineup.
