CANCELLED due to Covid:
The Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) first recorded Berlioz’ L’Enfance du Christ under Charles Dutoit in 1995, and the famed orchestra revives it here with guest conductor John Nelson and a mostly Canadian cast including the Toronto lyric baritone Russel Braun and Quebec-born coloratura contralto Marie-Nicole Lemieux, who is the first Canadian winner of the first prize in the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition.
L’enfance du Christ (The Childhood of Christ) obtained a resounding success at its premiere in Paris in 1854. American conductor John Nelson, a Berlioz specialist, will lead the OSM. He led the OSM in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio at the Maison symphonique in 2015.)
