December 31, 2021

The year 2022 rings in at the Metropolitan Opera with a New Year’s Eve gala performance of Verdi’s Rigoletto in a new production from Bartlett Sher, the multiple Tony Award winning director who has been active at the Met since 2006. Starring baritone Quinn Kelsey as the tragic clown, this Rigoletto promises an Art Deco look and action updated to the 1920s, with sets by Michael Yeargan. Baritone Quinn Kelsey is to play the tragic clown. The production arrives in cinemas on January 29. A second run is planned for late May.
