According to composer Estaban Benzecry, muyu is a Quechua word of native people of the Andes referring both to the circle of life and death and to disease that disrupts the circle’s balance. On Dec. 7, 9, and 10, the Philadelphia Orchestra presents the world premiere of Benzecy’s MUYUY, The circle of life, along with Florence Price’s Symphony No. 4 and Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts, and Hélène Grimaud is the soloist for the Mozart.
