2019 New Generation Artist violist Timothy Ridout joins pianist Tom Poster from Wigmore Hall’s Associate Artists, the Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective, to bring the world première of Kurt Schwertsik’s Haydn lived in Eisenstadt, by the intriguing Austrian composer Kurt Schwertsik, written especially for this concert. The new work will be sandwiched between two Brahms viola sonatas originally written for clarinet. Schwertsik was described by the Financial Times as “homespun, witty, nostalgic, vegetarian, politically liberal, intelligent, anti-authoritarian, widely-read, and deeply in love with tradition.” This program, which premiered May 10, is streamed from London and available on YouTube through June 10.
