New Opera Tells Of Sargent’s Muse

On July 13-18, Des Moines Metro Opera presents the world premiere of American Apollo, by Damien Geter and Lila Palmer. The main character is Thomas Eugene McKeller, a Black hotel worker who was also the model and muse for painter John Singer Sargent. Justin Austin and William Burden star, with stage director Shaun Patrick Tubbs making his DMMO debut.
