Gealán Quartet commissions Michael Doherty

The Ireland-based Gealán Quartet has only been around since 2021, but they’re already proving their commitment to new music by commissioning String Quartet No. 3 from fellow countryman Michael Doherty. The Gealán’s fall tour of this work includes a stop at the National Concert Hall in Dublin on Nov. 12 for a program that also includes Schumann and Shostakovich.
