Dressner’s ‘Mari’ Taps Basque Myths

Conductor Daniele Rustioni, music director of the Ulster Orchestra, makes his National Symphony debut May 9-11, conducting the East Coast premiere of Bryce Dessner’s Mari, an NSO co-commission inspired by a forest goddess in Basque mythology. Benjamin Grosvenor will play Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 before the orchestra follows Berlioz’s autobiographical journey through love and madness in Symphonie fantastique.
