Pretty Yende, Angel Blue to alternate

Pretty Yende and Angel Blue are to begin alternating in the role of Violetta this month at the Royal Opera Covent Garden. The popular Richard Eyre production of Verdi’s “La Traviata” has been a staple at the ROH since 1994 and is revived nearly every season. Yende is to be paired with tenor Dmytro Popov; Blue with Stephen Costello. Blue’s dates: April 1, 4, 6, 9 (matinee), 12; Yende’s: April 2, 5, 9, 11, 13, 18.

Renato Balsadonna and Giacomo Sagripanti are scheduled to conduct. For the record, the production premiere launched Angela Gheorghiu as a star and it was conducted by Georg Solti.
